January 2012 - build progress
Heavy rain and strong winds did not help the first few days of 2012 to make a big mark, but progress was made and on Friday the Main Frame team were back to finish the last beam errections, which had to wait till after the Crane had finished.
A small team of brickies have built the inner wall to waist height around two sides, and bricks, blocks and insulation in in place for a ‘next Monday’ purge, during which time the Crane will return to lift the Doc’s concrete beams up, for the ceiling, the Dentists first floor.
The Project Manager, John, has now got an aditional team member, Mark is the Site Manager, so 2012 will progress well.

October 2011 - The demolition is completed
As some will have seen the St. Andrew’s church and hall have been demolished. The enlargement of the public car park at the rear of the site between St Andrew's Road and the playing field open space which forms part of the overall scheme is virtually complete. An initial project programme has been prepared by the contractor which indicates a completion date in June 2012. Some pictures taken during the demolition work, plus one of the enlarged car park, are included below.

September 2011
An update from the St. Andrew’s Co-Ordination Group.
Leadbitter, the contractor for the redevelopment of the St. Andrew’s site, returned to the site on 2nd. August and preparatory work prior to the actual demolition was expected to be completed by the end of that week. Demolition should then commence, but only be completed when the remaining nesting birds have flown. We hope that there will be no more delays outside the contractor or design teams control. The intention is that by the end of August a revised overall programme including completion will be in place.
A key task at present is applying for grants from organisations outside the church. There is a small team in place who are spending a considerable amount of time and effort in pulling together all the detailed information required with such an exercise. This is a vital element within the overall funding required for the project and the next few months will be a crucial period.
We continue to meet regularly and with the work on site underway the many facets of the planning involved can be expected to pick up quickly from now on.
Progress reports will be given in the circuit newsletter.
July 2011
Progress report on the redevelopment.
The removal of all the asbestos from the old St. Andrew’s site has been completed. Work on the ’clean up’ of the dust that came when the asbestos fell is taking place as I prepare this sheet. This should be completed shortly. Then an Independent firm will come and a take air samples etc, so they can certify that all asbestos, and dust etc, has been removed from the buildings. The ‘Bat lady’ has been booked to come in the last week of June and oversee the removal of the Hall Ridge Tiles, and then all the other roof tiles, by hand. If she finds a bat, it has to be removed by her, and put in one of the Bat boxes she has already erected. After this, the Asbestos suffixes can be removed from under the guttering, and demolition can start!

St Andrew's Project Update
Having exchanged final contracts and keys, we are delighted to let you know that demolition of the current St Andrew's building commenced in the week of May 10th. It is intended that the new building will be completed in Spring 2012. We praise God for bringing us to this significant moment.
You may not see much happening outwardly for a time partly because the contractor has to remove asbestos first from the inside.
We are very aware of how many people have been part of this process from its inception many years ago, to those involved in more recent times, and are thankful for you all. We are excited about being part of this new development for the wider community and working alongside people at the doctors and dentists’ surgeries and the pharmacy. We would like to thank everyone who has supported the project so far in all sorts of ways and we look forward for this new phase in the life of the church, circuit and wider community. We will keep you updated as things progress and look forward to continuing this journey together.
Margaret
