The Basingstoke Methodist Circuit

The concept of a "Circuit" was introduced by John Wesley in the early days of Methodism as a means of grouping Churches so that their spiritual and administrative needs could be attended to on a rational basis and that they could derive mutual support. This is still the purpose of the Circuit.

Basingstoke is a relatively small Circuit, with 2.5 Ministers and 9 churches in and around the town.

Basingstoke Circuit now comprises:

Although each of our churches is a self-determining body in some respects, the Circuit is the unit that is responsible for the provision of Ministers and through the Circuit Meeting, key decisions are made about the way we as Methodists operate and witness.

The ecumenical partnership at Hatch Warren and Chineham operate essentially independent of the main Circuit structure with their own Ministers.
